Dennis Wisnosky presented to logistics professionals
Arlington, Va. – Dennis Wisnosky, Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and Chief Architect, Office of the Deputy Chief Management Officer (DCMO), addressed attendees at Defense Logistics 2008 on December 3. Wisnosky stated the Business Enterprise Architecture (BEA) creates a blueprint for the future of business operations within the Department of Defense (DoD) and he urged attendees to "pay attention to how it works, get on the band wagon and execute."
The BEA defines DoD's business transformation priorities and communicates in detail how all business operations will move in the same direction across DoD.
"The architecture creates small, manageable actions that the Services and defense agencies are specifically asked to follow guided by the strategy established by the Office of the DCMO and supported by the Service's Chief Management Officers," said Wisnosky.
Wisnosky noted the Business Transformation Agency's (BTA's) mission, which is to guide transformation of business operations throughout DoD and to deliver enterpriselevel capabilities that align to warfighter needs, supports the DCMO.
By establishing the Office of the DCMO, Wisnosky said Congress and DoD have created an institutionalized mechanism that should become the enabler of business transformation for the incoming Obama Administration. The DCMO focuses on business operations, which include architecturally represented policies, processes and systems.
Also during the Defense Logistics 2008 Conference, on December 2 – 5, the BTA exhibited featuring information about the agency and its products and services.
"This conference of key defense leaders from across the Services and defense agencies provided a comprehensive look into what change means for their initiatives," said Enterprise Planning and Investment's Jerry Brill, Planning and Results Analyst. "Their frank discussions provided an updated perspective for BTA about future directions from all aspects of the defense industry."
"I was impressed with the number of visitors well aware of the BTA and our role in employing industry and warfighter best practices," said Warfighter Requirements' (WR) Pamela Elliott, Program Specialist. "Many of my discussions focused on future developments that will have an impact on our warfighters."
